Dear Readers,

Have you been good this year?

If so, heck even if you were a little naughty, how does a chance to win a pair of comfy, dressy shoes sound?

Good, right?

Well, just in time for the holidays, we are pleased to announce a Shoeblog giveaway for pair of these Taryn Rose ‘Fierce’ Disco (Disco is the color) peep-toe shoes; retail value $445:

Taryn Rose was founded by a former orthopedic surgeon, and the brand is well-known for designing trend-conscious footwear with a focus on comfort and wear-ability. The shoes are hand-sewn in Italy, and while they are not exactly inexpensive, they are very competitively priced for a hand-made shoe ($300-$600), particularly when compared to recent large price increases seen among luxury shoe designers.  I do admit that I have a few Taryn Rose styles on my personal wish list,  but have not yet had a chance to invest in any shoe from this brand for myself. However, one of our lucky readers will be able to receive a pair of the attractive Fierce Disco pumps we are showing today.

These sparklers will easily dress up any LBD – whether you are partying on New Years Eve or are simply out for an intimate dinner-date with your beau…plus, you will still be able to walk without limping come the evening’s end.

In conjunction with this contest, Taryn Rose has graciously provided a 25% off promotional code discount for Shoeblog readers. The code is good from 12/1/09-12/31/09 and is valid on any full-price item; enter code “SHOEBLOG” at checkout to get your discount. (If you find a pair of shoes showing a rare 30% off the original price, the checkout will take the 30% discount already shown on that item instead of the lesser 25% of the promo code.)

So, what you really want to know is how can you be entered for a chance to win these festive Taryn Rose shoes, right?

That’s the easy part. Leave your comment below, telling us what outfit or occasion you would wear these with. This comment will count as your contest entry (One comment per person, please).

Contest will run 12/01/09 – 12/15/09. The winner will be chosen by random number generator and announced in a separate blog entry.  The winner will need to provide their shoe size and shipping address when they are notified by Shoeblog (size chart for Italian/US sizes is here).

Milan Spring 2010 Fashion Week: Platform Sandals

Quote from galligator

Earlier this year, André Leon Talley of Vogue was heard remarking that he was “over the mania of the high, high heel”.  On the Milan Spring 2010 runways, it’s really unapparent that designers took André’s word to heart.  The shoes were still soaring and high, abetted by one and two inch platforms.

Strappy Fendi Sandals for Spring 2010: My favorite part of these wraparound Fendi sandals were the rose-hued clear platform.

Gucci Spring 2010 Heels: Futuristic, sexy bondage heels appeared to be the theme on Gucci’s runway.

Versace Spring 2010 Fantasy Land Shoes: Donatella Versace’s Spring Collection was said to be inspired by the upcoming Alice in Wonderland movie from Tim Burton. This must explain the medley of playful polka dot, geometric, and pastel prints.

Shoes of the 2009 AMA’s

Quote from galligator

I am not much of a celebrity watcher. But, as might be expected, I am a shoe-watcher. So, despite my general cluelessness on who’s who these days in Hollywood, I love looking at the fashion photos of red-carpet events like yesterday’s AMA’s.

By the way, it drives me nuts that you can get fashion coverage of what folks wore, but they almost never mention the shoes as a part of this!!!

Am I the only person driven bonkers by this oversight?

Now I am left trying to wrack my brain in an attempt to remember who makes which shoe, etc. It’s enough to give a girl a migraine.

So, a quick rundown of some of the shoes seen on the AMA red carpet along with who makes them…in cases where my memory is actually serving me today. (Celeb photos are c/o Huffington Post & Popsugar)

Kristen Bell in Christian Louboutin:

Christian Louboutin ‘Archidisco’ $995

Colbie Caillat in what looks an awfully lot like a non-platform version of Louboutin’s ‘Ambro’ lace pump:

Christian Louboutin  ‘Ambro’ $825
(A similar budget style is available here.)

Alicia Keys…I should know this shoe & it’s driving me nuts. Somebody help me since my memory has completely betrayed me on these brilliant blue sandals:

Rihanna, sporting the Marchessa cut-out dress we saw recently. Love it or hate it, these white ankle-strap pums paired beautifully with this dress. (No, I haven’t figured out the maker of these shoes yet, either.)

Leona Lewis in chain-bedecked booties.

While her boots are probably not the exact ones I am showing here, these are the closest I could find on at the moment to a match for her booties:

Bakers Shoes ‘Julee’ (Another similar style is ‘Flash’ by Dolce Vita)

And I’ll end this with another shoe for whom I can’t find the maker, but have found a few strappy-alternatives that I would be just as happy to wear.

Carrie Underwood:

If you like these uber-strappy sandals, maybe one of these would also tempt you:

Sigerson Morrison ‘9438′

Guiseppe Zanotti Strappy Leather Sandal

Dior Cartagena Sandals
